PLEASE

In preparation to return to my third pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago, I reflected on why I felt the need to return yet again to the ancient trail. I came to understand that somewhere on my previous journeys, I lost my understanding of God in the way that I had known Him previously. I am returning to the place where I lost Him, in hopes to find Him again.
I felt that the first step in finding God was to set aside my expectations and instead humbly ask for Him to join me. To do so, I handmade 500 envelopes embossed with the word PLEASE. I say holding each envelope within my hands, asking a silent petition or prayer, and then offering my breath as the desperation of my plea. I filled my lungs with air, and then felt every last portion of my breath exit my body into the envelope. I licked the envelope shut and placed it inside a glass box, housing my deepest yearnings.
